Policy on the use of the OGB-Discuss mailing list
The ogb-discuss mailing list is intended to be a forum for communication to and among OGB members about governance related topics. The OGB's focus is
The management and direction of the business and affairs of the OpenSolaris Community. The OpenSolaris Governing Board (OGB) may exercise all such powers granted by the Charter for the operation and sustenance of the OpenSolaris Community efforts, maintenance of the accepted procedures for making decisions within the OpenSolaris Community, and enforcement of those procedures when deemed necessary.
When posting to this mailing list, please keep the following in mind:
General list karma
- Don't cross post to the list.
- Short email is good email. Be succinct and to the point.
- Always trim unneeded quoted text from your responses.
- Always trim unneeded Cc:'s from your responses. Chances are they all are subscribed to the list themselves.
- Read an entire thread before responding, and when possible, combine responses to several messages in a thread into one reply.
OGB-Discuss mailing list specifics
- Topics that need more discussion, are aimed at non-OGB members, or are off-topic from the governance focus of the OGB should be taken to a project or community group list. Once consensus or closure on the topic is reached, a summary message to this list is appropriate.
- Please contribute towards positive resolutions rather than tearing down other people's responses.
- Please limit your postings to one or two per day per topic unless an OGB member requests that you provide more information.
- If you find yourself dominating the discussion, step back and let others have a say. This is intended to force you to read everyone else's contributions, gather your thoughts, and develop a cogent response, and to prevent the flurries of rapid-fire dives into minutiae that make it difficult to have productive discussions.
- Persistent and/or flagrant violations of this usage policy may result in the moderation and/or rejection of messages to the list at the sole discretion of the OGB.
