This project provides a native, integrated SMB implementation to support OpenSolaris as a storage operating system. The OpenSolaris SMB Server provides support for the CIFS/SMB LM 0.12 protocol and MSRPC services in workgroup and domain mode. The SMB service depends on the Winchester project. OpenSolaris SMB also includes the Solaris SMB client.

Note - The OpenSolaris OS provides a Server Message Block (SMB) protocol server and client implementation that includes support for numerous SMB dialects including NT LM 0.12 and CIFS. The terms CIFS and SMB can be considered interchangeable.
