Project Updates

  • (Sept-11) The project to enable > 1TB boot disks was putback into b99! Read the flag day message and ARC Case for details.
  • (Sept-11) Paddy Sreenivasan announced the availability of Amanda on OpenSolaris.
  • (Sept-11) The NDMP project is now live. The NDMP implementation for OpenSolaris has been approved by the SNIA board as a work in progress implementation. Congratulations Reza & Mark.
  • (Sept-15) James McPherson announced the availability of the arcmsr(7d) driver on the x86 and x64 platforms, to support the Areca Technologies SAS and SATA RAID cards.
  • (Sept-16) James McPherson announced the integration if the ITU construction tools (PASRC/2008/431). James says "If you've ever wanted to make a new driver or utility available to the user at installation time, four tools are now available to make this a whole lot easier"
  • (Sept-23) Greg Mathews blogged about the introduction of the MMS project (PSARC 2007/420) into build 97.

    • A 26% growth in message traffic year over year, but
    • a 21% drop in message count from Aug
  • There were a total of 4724 messages on the storage related forums for the quarter Jul - Sept.
    • This represented a 66% growth over the same quarter last year, and
    • a 6% growth over the April - June quarter.
