Procedure
The following procedure performs a bare-bones, base Solaris system installation including Xorg, and subsequently installs a community-developed desktop environment stack
- Using Solaris Express CD 1, perform a basic installation, choosing the SUNWCrnet cluster.
- Eject CD 1, reboot, and log in as root
- Re-insert CD 1
- Manually mount CD 1
- Using CDs 1 and 2, as shown in the "required packages list" below, install required packages from the X consolidation and their dependencies.
- Create or copy over a suitable xorg.conf file and enable the Xorg X server using kdmconfig.
- Install and configure the update system (pkg-get) and wget from Blastwave.
- Run 'pkg-get -i xfce'. This installs the Xfce desktop environment and all it's dependencies from CSW/blastwave).
